I provide non-medical, family centered support, information, and solace to individuals and their loved ones facing dementia and terminal illness. By building relationships with clients and those around them, I offer nonjudgmental guidance, helping to navigate possible pathways for the upcoming transition. This fosters dignity, improves quality of life, and brings peace.
I felt called to this profession after openly discussing death and dying from a young age. This led me to a career working with older adults as a mental health counselor, caregiver, and in guest services at a senior living community, as well as assisting families and clients during their final years to moments of life. I have been privileged to witness and share in this intimate and profound transition, and I am passionate about helping others experience a meaningful and peaceful passing. I understand that not everyone has the time or calling to be available and present during this period, which is where I find my purpose-- working alongside loved ones, hospice, and caregivers to provide the best possible send off. See following links on the end of life doula (EOLD) movement and hospice overlap. https://www.nedalliance.org/uploads/1/0/9/9/109917739/thoughts_on_the_end_of_life_doula_movement.pdf and https://lifespandoulas.com/doulas-hospice-overlap/ (copy and paste each link into you browser)
While working with individuals with dementia, I am mindful of the effort it takes to bring meaning to their day. I am dedicated to finding purpose for them and have a strong history of making meaningful connections through my intuition and thorough dementia training. By providing their caregivers respite and time to debrief, they can recharge and reset, fostering better health and stronger relationships. https://bkbooks.com/blogs/something-to-think-about/there-are-end-of-life-doulas-what-about-dementia-doulas?_pos=3&_sid=429ecb12f&_ss=r (copy and paste link into your browser)
